Ashes To Ashes

On September 25th, our bandmate, our friend, our brother, Raymond R. Blanco, Jr., unexpectedly passed away. Nothing we can write will accurately express the extent of our sorrow. We love and miss him and cannot believe he is gone. The fragility of life seems impossible to comprehend. Raymond Blanco was a beautiful and very gifted human being with an incredibly kind heart, sharp wit, great compassion, and so much love. Our thoughts and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. We are all utterly devastated.

ohnomoon had a lot of plans and a lot of dreams, and no one believed in those more than Ray. In the past two weeks we’ve been trying to see through our shock and make sense of things. Make sense of anything, really. But one thing we know is that we cannot give up on our dreams. It’s not only the way Ray would have wanted it, it’s the way he would have demanded it.

We will still be performing our CMJ Showcase presented by The Deli Magazine at The Delancey on October 18th. We take the stage at 7:30pm sharp, and we’d really love to see you there. In addition, we’ll be performing a special show in Ray’s honor on Saturday, November 19th (also at The Delancey). More details forthcoming shortly.

In the meantime, we’d like to give you the last song Ray would ever record with us, our cover of David Bowie’s “Ashes to Ashes.”  You can listen to or download it here.

I heard a rumor from ground control. Oh no, don’t say it’s true. They got a message from the Action Man: “I’m happy, hope you’re happy, too.  I’ve loved all. I’ve needed love.  Sordid details following…”

Knowing Ray, sordid is probably an understatement.

We love you, Raymond. We miss you terribly. We were building dreams with you. Now we can only dream of you. Sleep tight, dear friend. We’re taking you with us, up on stage, to every practice, wherever and forever.

All of our Love,
Kat, Corey, and Graham
